The short version of how Recap works, what it remembers and what it does not.
How long does Recap keep messages?
Raw Telegram messages are kept for no longer than 30 days, then deleted. Distilled community knowledge may last longer only when it is non-personal, traceable, still current and due to be rechecked. Custom settings stay recoverable for 30 days after a Custom licence expires.
Can Recap read the chat from before it was added?
No. Telegram does not give a new bot the old history. Recap learns from the moment it is added, unless an authorised admin later imports or provides project information.
Is Recap free?
Yes — add Recap to a group and use it free, with the standard daily allowance. Holding at least 100,000 $RECAP unlocks Premium for you. A Group Boost raises the allowance for everyone in that group. A Custom licence is separate: it pays for your own bot identity and hosting, not unlimited AI.
How do Premium, Custom and Boosts differ?
Premium is holder Verify only — it stays active while your linked wallet holds ≥100k $RECAP. Custom lets you launch your own BotFather bot with Recap’s brain. Boosts expand usage for one Telegram group. Custom does not include Premium, and a boost does not silently change organic Trending rank.
How do I ask Recap something?
In a group, mention Recap or reply to one of its messages. Use /recap 24h — or /recap 1h French — for a timed recap. Custom bots do not use /recap; ask in natural language instead, for example “recap the last 24 hours”.
Who can see my group’s messages?
Recap answers from the current group’s history and any official project facts admins have set. It does not mix private conversation from one community into another. Official facts stay separate from chat opinion.
Does adding Recap get my project on Trending or Alpha?
Adding Recap or a Custom bot makes the project eligible for discovery. Placement stays evidence- and activity-led. Recap does not guarantee a rank, an Alpha feature or a particular amount of reach.
What happens when a Custom licence expires?
The custom bot pauses and stops AI generation. Settings and eligible knowledge stay recoverable for 30 days. Members who try to use it get a short paused notice. Renew in that window to bring the same bot back without setting it up again.
What AI does Recap use?
Gemini is the AI used for Recap. Outputs can be wrong, so Recap grounds answers in chat evidence and official project facts where it can, and says so when it cannot verify something.
How do I stop Recap tagging me?
Use /recap_exclude in the group, or ask Recap to stop tagging you. That opts you out of Recap-generated group tags. It does not stop Recap replying when you speak to it directly.
